Dining and Apres options

For those wishing to dine out there are a range of top class restaurants, which operate in the valley during the winter season and these are in reasonable walking distance from the lodge. Here are some recommendations.

Lunch (on mountain)
*  Sundeck : ski-in/ski-out- best outdoor Kranskies on the mountain & great range of schnapps
*  Alpine Eyre at foot of Eye t/bar- recently taken over by Vail - so no famous Eyre burgers at this time
*  Mid-Station – Fast food & drinks station

*  Guthega Inn- delicious food and worth the trip over to see the view from a table outside https://www.guthegainn.au/book-a-table/

Lunch (off Mountain)
*   Brunelli’s in the food court  (pretty mean chili hot chocolate and best coffee on the mountain)
*   Aldo’s pizzeria (in ski tube terminal opposite post office.)

*  The Base 1720 - Shhh! keep this one secret as this is a quiet place for a lovely lunch! A cosy contemporary atmosphere to enjoy cocktails by the fireplace or enjoy a snack from our Tempters menu. Adjacent to the Pub Family Food Court.

Apres-ski
*    Man from Snowy River – opposite the Ski Tube terminal.  Great food * sometimes live music
*    White Spider – 1/2 way back to the Lodge.  Great place for dinner.  Sometimes live music around 5pm

* Coroboree Bar - Want to watch a match? Their three large TVs are always tuned into the latest sporting events. A dartboard and pool table ensures fun for everyone.
*  The Hoff Bar – In Chalet Sonnenhoff offers a range of beers, wines and cocktails in the cosy ground floor of the lodge, open every night until late.

The lodge is also conveniently located adjacent to many cross country ski trails which wind around the southern and eastern parts of Perisher Valley. These tracks during the summer months are an ideal way to explore the beauty and tranquility of Perisher and the natural environment.

Summer Activities

Cycling - Kunapipi is not only available for winter activities and the lodge is frequented by hikers and cyclists in the “non-snow” months. The attached photos show a cycling expedition undertaken by Ian Shaw (Treasurer) and friends over an Easter weekend. The cycle rides are great and can be undertaken on sealed as well as unsealed roads, depending on preferences and type of bicycle. The ride to Charlottes’ Pass is a favourite however riding as far as Mt Kosciusko is an adventure for the keener or more sports-minded cyclist. The days are usually warm but the nights, especially on the edge of seasons can be cold so go prepared for all weather. The ski room makes a great cycle room and can hold 16 bicycles at a pinch.

Walking - if you like to bush walk (or stroll) there are many wonderful trails to explore. Here are some recommendations on the AllTrails website https://www.alltrails.com/australia/new-south-wales/perisher-village/walking

A very popular walk from the lodge is the Porcupine walk -a short 5.7km return, family-friendly walking track at Perisher in Kosciuszko National Park. Spot wildflowers as you climb to Porcupine Rocks for breathtaking views of the Thredbo Valley and Main Range.https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/porcupine-walk

Fishing - Perisher Creek is a very small stream that flows directly through the Perisher Blue Ski Resort. It is a summer only option and is closed to fishing between the June and October Long Weekends. The creek holds very small rainbow and brown trout and due to its size, is really only suitable for fly only. Bait fishing is not permitted. The best section to fish is from the village carpark area downstream to the sewerage treatment works, below the North Perisher Ski Lodges and chairlift. A full list of fishing spots in the Snowy Mountains can be read here -https://www.snowymountainsfishing.com.au/region/streams/perriv/

Purchasing your recreational fishing licence
The fees are:

$7 for three days
$14 for one month
$35 for one year
$85 for three years
You can purchase your recreational licence online here: https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/recreational-fishing-fee or by calling 1300 369 365 (Visa and Mastercard only), from hundreds of standard and gold fishing fee agents and from most Kmart stores in NSW.
